JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Vetronia Reed has lived in her home on Atlee Avenue for two years. She says Wednesday's rough weather resulted in something she'll never forget.
"The house just shook like the house is going to get up and move," she said.
A large tree fell on top of her roof, right over her bedroom. She walked out of that room seconds before the tree fell. She said the thunder was so loud, she didn't hear the tree fall.
"I didn't know until a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office officer knocked on my door and asked if I was okay," she said.
The American Red Cross is helping Reed and her 3 children with a place to stay and money for food. Crews are working to remove the tree and fix the damage to the roof.
"I'm joyful because we're still here - we're still alive - and we're still well," she said.
