Missing man found dead after falling into Sisters Creek

UPDATE, 4/11/14: According to JSO Public Information Officer Melissa Bujeda, the man's body was located in the river near the Coast Guard's Mayport station is that of 53-year-old Bryan Williams Roberts, who went missing Saturday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man is missing after he fell into the waters of Sisters Creek Saturday.

Search crews from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the Coast Guard were searching until noon for the 53-year-old man who went missing around 4 a.m.

According to JSO, the man fell of a dock at Riverfront RV Park in the 8300 block of Heckscher Drive.

A witness said the man tried to cling onto wooden pilings under the dock, but was eventually swept away. The tide was outgoing at the time of the incident. The Coast Guard used boats and helicopters to assist JSO with the search.

JSO searched for the victim inside the witness's trailer, the dock and in the waters but were not able to find him.

According to JSO, the witness and the victim were drinking alcohol prior to the incident and may have been intoxicated.

Jorgensen said the Coast Guard called off its search around noon.

The identity of the man has not been released.

The JSO Missing Persons Unit is continuing to investigate.
