Man wanted for scamming elderly woman at Wal-Mart

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are seeking a man accused of scamming an elderly woman out of a large sum of money Tuesday.

A 69-year-old woman was allegedly scammed in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart in the 10900 block of San Jose Boulevard, according to a release from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The victim told JSO she was approached by an unknown male who struck up a conversation with her.

During the conversation, the suspect told the victim that he had found a large amount of money and if she paid a collateral payment she would be entitled to some of the money.

A female accomplice went with the victim to the bank where she withdrew money from her account, the release detailed. The victim then gave her money and jewelry as collateral to the woman, who then gave everything to the male suspect.
