JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man and a woman were taken to the hospital and a dog died after a fire at a home in the 2300 block of Mills Road.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department Chief Martin Senterfitt said units responded to the home at 1:15 p.m. Thursday with heavy smoke and fire showing.
An elderly man was taken to UF Health at Jacksonville in critical condition and a woman was taken to Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Two pet dogs were in the home and one was found dead in the home after the fire, Senterfitt said.
The State Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
