Man shot twice crossing railroad tracks

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One man is recovering after being shot twice on Jacksonville's north side early Monday morning.

In an e-mailed synopsis of the incident, the sheriff's office said the incident was reported at 12:54 a.m. at 250 E. 48th St.

The unidentified victim was found on a porch located at that address with gunshot wounds to the right forearm and right cheek.

He told officers he was walking across the train tracks toward E. 44th St. and heard two gunshots before realizing he had been hit.

The sheriff's office said he could give no other information about what happened.

He was treated at the scene by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and taken to UF Health with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives are continuing their investigation. There are no known suspects at this time.
