Man shot in neck during attempted carjacking

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man was shot during an attempted carjacking around 10 p.m. Monday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office

The incident happened in the 2000 block of Jammes Road. The victim told JSO officers that he refused to give the suspect a ride. When the victim refused, the suspect demanded him to get out of car.

Police say as the victim drove away, he was shot once in the neck. The suspect fled.

The unidentified victim was then taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office asks that any witnesses to the shooting contact the department's Homicide Unit at 904-630-0500 or First Coast Crimestoppers at (866)-845-TIPS.
