Man busted with almost 100 pot plants in yard

HAWTHORNE, Fla. -- A tip from a neighbor led deputies to a marijuana grow house with almost one hundred plants.

Detectives with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in the 100 block of Beulah Drive Tuesday after receiving an anonymous tip about marijuana being grown at the house, according to a release from the PCSO.

Deputies were allegedly able to view numerous marijuana plants growing in plain sight in the backyard.

The occupant of the home, 40-year-old Christopher Demot Griffin, consented to a search of the house ad property, the release detailed.

Deputies found 96 marijuana plants, several pounds of marijuana that had already been harvested and a variety of drug related paraphernalia. Griffin, who is a convicted felon, was also found to be in the possession of a .410 gauge shotgun.

Griffin was arrested and charged with producing marijuana, possession of drug equipment and possessing a firearm by a convicted felon.
