SWAT situation in gated community in Mandarin over, suspect in custody

A man is in custody after being involved in a standoff with SWAT Friday in Mandarin.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office released a mugshot of the suspect in Friday's SWAT standoff in Mandarin.

JSO arrested Thomas Matthew Lewis, 37, following a SWAT call out at a home in the 3900 block of Reds Gate Lane, a few blocks west of Old. St. Augustine and south of Loretto Road.

At the time of the standoff, police said a man and woman got into some kind of domestic disturbance and she ran out of the house and police were notified. The man, believed to be Lewis, barricaded himself in the home, threatened to kill both him and herself, the police official said.

Lewis faces a charge of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, as well as a felony charge of domestic battery by strangulation. He also had an out of county warrant.
