Jacksonville aims to raise 72% graduation rate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville is one of 100 cities that will participate in GradNation, a national push to increase the high school graduation rate to 90 percent.

The city will host a GradNation summit on April 4 to address ways to improve the graduation rate, which is 72 percent in Duval County.

"Education is key to that success," said Mayor Alvin Brown.

The summit will be held in the Main Library downtown.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Alma Powell, who chairs America's Promise Alliance.
