Infant dies in Lake City crash

LAKE CITY, Fla. -- An infant died in a two-car Lake City crash Thursday. According to FHP, the 4-month-old was not properly restrained at the time of the crash.

Charles Giddens, 81, was attempting a U-turn from the shoulder of U.S. 27 around noon, according to FHP.

A car driven by Thomas Ingram, 29, carrying a 23 year old passenger and the infant boy was unable to avoid Gidden's Chevrolet Impala as he entered the road.

The cars collided and slid into a traffic sign and a fence, according to FHP.

The infant, 4 month old Connor Ingram, was transported to Lake City Medical Center where he later died.

Giddens was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Neither Thomas or the 23 year old passenger were injured.

Charges are pending.
