Here's how to turn on emergency alerts from NWS

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The National Hurricane Center announced Wednesday night that Tropical Storm Hermine will more than likely strike the Florida Gulf Coast as a hurricane.

This means we will get hit with tons of rain and heavy winds. It's important to stay up-to-date on the system as it makes landfall sometime Thursday night.

If you don't have emergency alerts enabled on your phone, you will want to do so immediately. These alerts come straight the National Weather Service and will alert you of any immediate severe weather.

iPhone users: . Go to settings-->notifications-->scroll to bottom

Android users: Go to settings, click on the More option under the Wireless & Networks section, and scroll down to the Cell Broadcasts settings.

You can also download the First Coast News app and receive weather alerts targeted towards the First Coast. Make sure once you download the app, you enable notifications.
