Camden County voluntary evacuations ordered for all low-lying areas and mobile homes

WOODBINE, Ga.—County officials announced Wednesday that all residents in mobile homes and low lying areas should evacuate ahead of Hurricane Matthew hitting Camden County.

This voluntary evacuation is effective immediately, says the Camden County Board of Commissioners. The evacuation of the mainland is not anticipated at this time.

The storm should start affecting the area Thursday night. Life-threatening storm surge is probable throughout the coastal areas, and intense winds and rain could cause severe damage to homes.

All county offices and courts will be closed Friday.
