CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- The former Clay County Clerk of Court information technology director has been charged with stealing computer equipment.

Investigators say Michael Hamilton of Green Cove Springs is facing a felony charge of schemes to defraud.

The charge represents more than 80 cases against Hamilton. Investigators say he stole and pawned dozens of computers and pieces of electronic equipment.

Clay County Sheriff's Office Detectives say they have recovered about 60 percent of the stolen items. About 15 thousand dollars in equipment remains missing.
