JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Undersheriff Dwain Senterfitt addressed the media Saturday morning to fill in details about an officer involved shooting that happened Friday afternoon.
Senterfitt showed graphic images of a stab wound sustained by Officer Steven Brown during a struggle with a suspect. The man who stabbed Brown, 29-year-old Brandon Peters, was shot and killed during the scuffle which Brown fired three shots -- two with a rifle, and the final shot with a pistol.
JSO said Peters allegedly stabbed 20-year-old Wayne Coyle 11 or 12 times which caused three JSO officers, including Brown, to respond to the 8800 block of Doe Lane. Senterfitt said Coyle is expected to make a full recovery.
Pictures of the kitchen knife recovered at the scene were also displayed by JSO.
Senterfitt said Officer Brown was treated and released from the hospital Friday and is expected to be fine.
