Gwinnett County family searches for lost pink hippo

DACULA, Ga. -- Four-year-old Sadie Smith has given up on reuniting with her pink hippo. Her family and their Facebook friends are still pushing for a happy ending.

Sadie was on her way home from an overnight trip with her grandpa, Taylor Clay, when he pulled over for gas outside of Dacula. A woman told him she was behind him at the last intersection and saw a pink suitcase fall of the truck. Sadie's favorite stuffed animal was inside that Dora The Explorer suitcase.

Clay immediately went back to the intersection, but the suitcase was already gone. He's been back several times since for a more complete search, but never found the suitcase.

"There's nothing valuable about it," Sadie's mom, Jessica Smith, said. "I'm just hoping I know somebody who knows somebody who knows something."

The posts from Smith and the rest of their family have been shared by friends and neighbors on social media. They're using the hashtag #BringPinkHippoHome. But, still no hippo. Grandpa Clay sweetened the chances (he hopes) by offering a $50 reward.

The pink Dora suitcase was last seen at Mt. Moriah Rd and Route 124 outside of Dacula. The hippo is inside the suitcase along with rain boots and girl's clothing.
