$100K seized during Camden traffic stop

KINGSLAND, Ga. -- Deputies seized $100,000 in U.S. currency after a man was stopped for an improper lane change on Interstate 95 Tuesday afternoon.

According to a release from the Camden County Sheriff's Office, 32-year-old Juan Nunez of Orlando had three cell phones in the center of his Ford Edge and "was fidgeting excessively."

Nunez was asked by law enforcement if he had drugs, weapons or large amounts of money in the car. He said no and deputies then asked if they could search the vehicle.

"I don't mind, but I don't want you to search the vehicle," Nunez said, according to the release.

During the search, Nunez told deputies that he wanted to be a police officer and that they were doing a great job.

A K-9 got a positive hit on the SUV and leading deputies to find U.S. currency inside of the center console, which had been replaced by an aftermarket console.

Nunez's SUV was taken to the Sheriff's Office and four vacuum-sealed bags of U.S. currency totaling $100,000. The money was seized by deputies and Nunez was allowed to retrieve his personal items and was released.
