Firefighters battling 85 acre fire in Putnam County

A nearly 85-acre fire, known as the Boggy Creek Fire, started burning in Grandin, Putnam County on Sunday.

The Clay County Fire Department said they were called out to what is being described as a "level 3" woods fire that's burning near Bellamy Road and Blazing Star Road. The Putnam County Fire Department and the Florida Forestry Service are also on the scene.

The Putnam County Firefighters Association has asked residents to avoid the area for safety. No evacuations have been ordered.


Several more units have been requested to protect buildings nearby.
