Firefighters battled structure fire in Arlington

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department battled a structure fire in the Arlington area Friday evening.

JFRD responded around 9:25 p.m. at an Apartment Complex in the 3200 block of University Boulevard. According to JFRD, the fire was in the attic of a vacant apartment.

Firefighters had to tear into the ceiling of the adjacent apartment to put the fire out. JFRD says no one was injured, but 41 people are displaced because the building's power had to be turned off.

All lanes of University Boulevard at Justina Terrace were closed to traffic for a couple of hours. The road has since reopened.
