They have outgrown their current facility and the new one will be closeto 400,000 square feet. FedEx will transition the current workforce andit could bring 180 jobs in the future and progress packages faster.

"We build these facilities for the future. We're excited and weanticipate a lot of future growth, because if you look back over thelast 10 years, FedEx Ground has grown essentially double the size inthe last 10 years," said FedEx Ground Southern Region Vice President,Bob Holcombe.

The groundbreaking has people talking on the city's Westside.

Janice Perry's family has owned property along Normandy Boulevard a few miles from Cecil Commerce Center for generations.

"We've owned the property since 1920, so its been in the family a long time," Perry said.

She has seen 63 years of progress and development.

"Everything was woods out here. I can remember when Normandy was two lanes in sections. When you come out here, it would go 'flap flap flap flap' all the way," she said.

Of the center, Perry said, "I think It's wonderful. It's bringing a lot of jobs in to Jacksonville. Although I hate to see the woods go down, but time moves on."

The new facility is expected to be open in July 2015. Those jobs could be available sometime after that.
