Fallen Officer Memorial to begin construction

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- In a city with scores of law enforcement officers, the one thing Jacksonville doesn't have is a memorial dedicated to those who died in the line of duty.

Adam Resch, a Life Scout on his way to Eagle Scout, is changing that.

"I asked city council for land for this and they decided 800 square feet in front of the Veteran's Memorial Arena in downtown was appropriate for it and they unanimously voted for that last year," tells Resch.

He has a rendering of what the Fallen Officer Memorial will look like. Adam has been working and raising money for the last four years to make this happen! Now he is finally close to the $100,000 mark which is enough for construction to begin.

"I am very happy that tonight I get to tell the families of the officers going on this wall that we have the $100,000 and we are building this wall," says Resch.

It is a cause close to Adam's heart, he comes from five generations of officers. His father is currently a detective at JSO.

"He has been there every step of the way guiding and helping this project and really advocating for it," tells Resch.

So get ready for this addition headed to Jacksonville, because Adam feels any person who gives their life for their country or community deserves to be remembered.

Resch is now trying to raise an additional $150,000 for maintenance costs for the next 25 years. If you would like to donate, you can do that at www.jax4cops.org
