Detective arrested in prostitution sting in St. Johns County

PALATKA COUNTY, Fla. -- A detective with the Palatka Police Department was arrested Friday night and faces a charge of procure for prostitution in St. Johns County, according to Asst. Palatka Police Chief James Griffith.

Reno Fells was placed on administrative leave Saturday, then resigned Sunday around 5:30 p.m. Griffith said.

Fells was employed by the PPD from 1997 to 2011 when he left to pursue another career. He returned December 2013, working as a Detective in the Investigative Division.

Fells ran for Putnam County Sheriff in 2012, but lost to Jeff Hardy.

Thirteen other were also during the sting.
