Driver killed, family injured in crash on I-295 exit ramp

36-year-old James David Miller was traveling south on I-295 with his wife and three boys at about 4:40 a.m. when he began to exit onto State Road 9B.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man traveling with his family early Saturday morning was killed in a traffic accident involving multiple vehicles.

James David Miller, 36, was traveling southbound on I-295 with his wife and three boys ages 1 to 7 at approximately 4:40 a.m. Saturday when he began to exit onto State Road 9B.

For reasons unknown, Miller's 2001 Ford Escape struck a crash attenuator, causing the vehicle to overturn. Two people were trapped inside, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.



A second vehicle began to exit onto SR-9B when it struck Miller's vehicle, which had came to a final rest in the roadway.

Miller was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The accident report states that all of the occupants inside Miller's vehicle sustained serious injuries.
