UNF named ‘best bang for the buck' among Southeast colleges

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The University of North Florida is ranked among the Top 30 in the “Best Bang for the Buck Southeast Colleges 2016” list in the annual College Guide and Rankings by Washington Monthly magazine for being one of the best values for college students.

UNF is the only Northeast Florida university to make the Top 30 and is one of only three Florida state universities listed in the upper ranking, which also included the University of Florida and New College of Florida.

“We take great pride in being nationally recognized for delivering an exceptional education at an exceptional value,” said UNF President John Delaney. “We’re dedicated to providing our students with a world-class education at an affordable price.”

The rankings are based on several different factors, including the University’s graduation rate, percent of students receiving Pell Grants, first generation students and their performance, net price of attendance and predicted median earnings, to name a few.

“The University of North Florida is among the institutions that are doing the best job of helping students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices,” said Washington Monthly Editor-in-Chief Paul Glastris. “We’re delighted to help shine a light on the great work being done at UNF and commend the university for its commitment to serving its students and the nation.”

The top “Best Bang for the Buck” colleges are divided into five regions: Midwest, Northeast, Southern, Southeast and Western. The Southeast region includes colleges and universities from Alabama, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
