4-year-old from Gainesville found safe, suspect still at large

The search is still on for her father Gary Nelson, who took his daughter from her mother's home.

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office has safely located the 4-year-old girl who was reported missing from Gainesville earlier Wednesday.

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office told First Coast News that the child was reported missing around 11:30 a.m. and believed she may have been in the company of her father, Gary Nelson, 44, at the time of her disappearance.

Deputies announced she was found safe shortly after 9 p.m., but said Gary Nelson is still at large.

Gary Nelson does not have custody his daughter, deputies said. They said he took her from her mother's home.

Gary Nelson is described as a black male, 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a lack shirt and blue jeans.

If you see him, you're asked not to approach them and call the Alachua County Sheriff's Office at 352-955-1818 or 911.
