JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sean Frederick Franke, 23, was found guilty as charged Tuesday evening of driving under the influence manslaughter and two counts of driving under the influence with serious bodily injury.
Back in January 2013, Franke and three others were driving down Beach Boulevard after leaving a New Year’s Eve party when Franke lost control of his vehicle while attempting to make a right turn.
According to investigations, Franke struck a metal pole, which fatally injured 20-year-old Dara Kusiv. The two other passengers sustained serious injuries but later recovered.
According to officials, Franke was under the influence during the time with a blood alcohol level of .178.
Franke now faces up to 25 years in prison. He will be sentenced the week of October 31.
