LAKE CITY, Fla.- Columbia County was particularly hard hit by the first hurricane to make landfall in Florida since 2005.
Hurricane Hermine made landfall west of Columbia County packing 80 MPH winds. Gusts in Lake City near 70
MPH were recorded.
Thousands lost power and hundreds of trees were reported down around the county. As of 10 a.m., 7,000 Clay Electric customers in the county were still without power and 21 roads had "power line" issues, emergency officials said.
The Sheriff's office is asking residents to stay off local roads and out of the way so rescue workers can do their job and help get things cleaned up.
