Coast Guard medevacs man from Carnival cruise ship

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – A Coast Guard boat needed to help medically evacuate a man from a Carnival cruise ship Saturday night.

According to the Coast Guard, a boatcrew from Mayport evacuated an injured Carnival Fascination cruise ship passenger after he was reportedly experiencing stroke symptoms.

The 56-year-old man was taken to shore via Coast Guard small boat. The man, two family members and a nurse were transferred to the 45-foot Response Boat – Medium and taken to Station Mayport then to a local hospital.

The man was in stable condition upon transfer. His current condition is unknown.
