Brush fires contained before any damage in Hilliard

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. -- Brush fires broke out near Hilliard Sunday afternoon.

There were spot fires threatening a barn and another structure in near Bow Tie Alley and CR 121.

There was also a brush fire threatening homes at Pebbles Place and Ella Avenue in Bryceville.

Nassau County Fire Rescue along with forestry services were able to fend off the flames and douse both brush fires.

There were no injuries and no reported damage.

Lt. Curtis Bollinger with NCFR said it's typical to see brush fires this time of the year as the days get longer and hotter, but these ones were manageable.

"We had two of them going on simultaneously, one in Hilliard and one in Bryceville," Bollinger said.
