Boy tries to jump on train, severs leg

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A young boy's leg was severed by a moving train early Sunday morning after he tried to jump on-board.

The boy was attempting to jump on the train just after midnight in order to make curfew at the Panama Youth Center, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

His leg was caught under the train and one of his legs was severed above the ankle.

The incident happened near 56th and Main Street.

The boy was taken to a local hospital to be treated.
