Body found in vacant lot on Westside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating after a body was found in a vacant lot Monday morning on the city's Westside.

According to the JSO, a resident walking in the 1300 block of South Ellis Road saw a person, later identified as 26-year-old Paul Eugene Williams, lying in the vacant lot and tried yelling out to get his attention.

Williams did not move and 911 was called. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department personnel discovered Williams was dead and JSO found he had at least one gunshot wound.
