JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A man killed in an early morning crash Saturday has been identified.
Casey Hoyt, 22, will be laid to rest later this week after flipping his car in a ditch in the 1600 block of Starratt Road.
The crash occurred early Saturday morning when Hoyt allegedly traveled off the road, overcorrected twice and hit a ditch causing his car to flip, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Hoyt was ejected in the crash and was transported to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries. Hoyt was later pronounced deceased.
Starratt Road from Vernice Road to Yellow Bluff Road was closed for a period of time following the crash Saturday.
An investigation into the single car crash is ongoing. Information as to whether or not a seat belt was in use or if alcohol was a factor is not available at this time.
Hoyt will be remembered at the Green Pine Funeral Home and Cemetery in Yulee.
