PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- St. Johns County Sheriff's Office deputies shot and killed, on Friday, a rabid bobcat that was chasing people in the Patrick Mill Circle area.
After arriving in the area around 1 p.m., the deputies found the bobcat to be sick and shot the cat to protect people in the area, according to a release from SJSO Sgt. Catherine Payne.
The bobcat was initially thought to be a Florida Panther, but the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission determined that the cat was a bobcat.
