PALM COAST, Fla. -- The "Iron Man" bank robbery suspect is behind iron bars tonight after being caught by Flagler County investigators on Wednesday.
Lakhram Mahadeo, 26, was arrested just after 5 p.m. in connection with the June 20 armed robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank located in the Town Center Shopping Center on Belle Terre Parkway.
Police: Searching for Iron Man after bank robbery
Mahadeo, from Palm Coast, was taken into custody by Flagler County investigators at his residence, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
He was transferred to the Investigative Services Division where he was charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon and grand theft.
Sheriff's investigators said Mahadeo was the lone robber who entered the bank shortly after 4 p.m. on June 20 brandishing a handgun and demanding money.
At the time of the robbery, Mahadeo was wearing a tan jumpsuit, an Iron Man mask, tan boots and gloves, according to FCSO.
Investigators were able to recover the handgun and clothing used in the robbery but not the Iron Man mask.
Mahadeo was the owner of a maroon 2009 Honda Accord that was allegedly used during the commission of the robbery. The vehicle has since been repossessed.
"Our investigators did an excellent job in identifying the suspect in this case. I am pleased that we have been able to take this man off the streets before he hurts anyone or commits any other crimes," said Flagler County Sheriff James L. Manfre.
An Iron Man robbery sequel is also unlikely. Mahadeo is being held in the Flagler County Detention Facility with a $100,000 bond.
