LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A teen has been arrested for the murder of his father, according to a Lake City Police Department news release.
The release detailed that the son told his mother he had shot him and then surrendered to law enforcement, according to the release.
Police responded to the apartment of Herman Haenisch, 55, around 9 p.m. July 28 in reference to a possible homicide. They observed him sitting on the couch, appearing to be unconscious and made entry.
H. Haenisch was pronounced deceased by Lifeguard EMS at the scene.
While officers were at the scene, Lake City Police Department Communications Center received a phone call from the suspect's mother, and spouse of the victim, Khrissi Haenisch, stating that she was out of town and her son, Eric Haenisch, told her that he had shot and killed his dad.
E. Haenisch, 19, was located in a room at a hotel, where police found the red Dodge Durango his mother stated that he might be in.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, Florida Department Law Enforcement, State Attorney's Office, and Officers of the Lake City Police Department started evacuating rooms in the area of the room E. Haenisch was in.
The suspect heard the commotion, observed Law Enforcement and surrendered.
Haenisch is charged with willful homicide, according to the release.
FDLE is assisting in processing the crime scenes and Lake City Police Department Investigations Division along with the SAO. FDLE Special Agents are continuing to investigate this incident.
