PALATKA, Fla. -- A man was arrested after slamming into a City of Palatka park sign, allegedly driving under the influence.
Palatka Police responded to reports of a traffic crash around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, near the area of River Street near the City Dock Park, according to a statement from PPD.
Once on scene, officers noticed damage to a brick sign in front of the park, along with a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro with extensive damage. The impact was so intense, the airbags in the Camero had deployed.
According to witnesses, the driver of the Camero fled the scene following the crash.
The driver was later identified as 38-year-old Timothy Ray Anthony, who was located a short distance from the crash scene.
Anthony was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence during accident with property damage, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
Anthony was booked into the Putnam County Jail with a bond set at $2,016.
