JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Association of Firefighters and JEA come together to give back to the community.
The JAFF and JEA workers are building a new fence in front of the Janay Jackson home to prevent cars from crashing into the home.
Two vehicles have crashed into the home on two separate instances.
In August 2012 a vehicle crashed into the home killing 17-year-old Janay Jackson while she was sleeping. In June 2013, an SUV crashed into the home.
Randy Wise, JAFF President 122, says it's a way to give back to a family and help them after losing so much.
JEA donated the recycled power poles. All of the firefighters and JEA employees are volunteering their time and their tools.
The project is expected to be completed in a week.
