JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A pedestrian trying to cross Beaver Street was struck and killed by a Jacksonville Transit Authority bus Saturday night.
The unidentified man in his 50's, maybe early 60's, was partially across Beaver St. when the JTA bus making a left hand turn from Newnan St. struck him around 8:45 p.m., according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The female bus driver was shaken up, but not injured. She was taken to Baptist Medical Center as a precaution.
According to JSO Det. JD Gregory, the bus driver made a left turn on a green light.
It is not known if the bus driver will face any charges and JSO did not disclose if the man was jaywalking.
The man appeared to be alone at the time.
JSO is still investigating the incident.
