JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A bicyclist who was killed after being struck by a car on Sunday has been identified by police.
John Dougherty, 36, was riding his bicycle northbound in the 3200 block of Townsend Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle going southbound, according to a release from Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Shannon Hartley.
Dougherty, his bicycle and the vehicle struck a cinder block wall of a home, Hartley said.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and Dougherty was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, Hartley said.
