JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The state of Florida is taking a look at red light camera intersections like ones at the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and Monument Road.
People traveling eastbound on Atlantic
have received the most violations for disobeying the red light cameras, with more than 1,200 violations since February 7.
The second highest is 103rd Street and Firestone, which is near a school that sees a high number of accidents.
The average time in Jacksonville for a light to transition from yellow to red is 4.09 seconds, which they are looking at increasing by four-tenths of a second.
There are 18 red light cameras in the city of Jacksonville that have been responsible for more than 9,800 violations. Additionally, the city has received a portion of $477,000 from all red light cameras so far.
