PALATKA, Fla. -- No one what hurt, but plenty of damage was done when a fire ripped through a Palatka neighborhood Sunday morning.
Members of the Putnam County Fire Department battled the two house fires on Laurel street around 1:30 a.m., according to PCFD chief Mike Lambert.
Initially an abandoned house caught on fire and flames spread to the home next door.
Seven people were inside the second home when it caught fire, but all were able to escape unharmed.
PCFD worked for about an hour to put out the fire, according to Lambert.
The second home sustained significant damage to the porch and kitchen area.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
The state fire marshal is assisting the Putnam fire department in its investigating.
