LAKE CITY, Fla. -- In a two week span during a Click It or Ticket Campaign, the Lake City Police Department issued 170 tickets for seat belt and child restraint violations.
The campaign took place from May 20 to July 2.
According to LCPD, officers conducted 378 total traffic stops, 182 of which resulted in at least one citation.
Warnings were issued to 173 drivers and 16 arrests were made, according to LCPD.
In Columbia County, the penalty for a driver not wearing a seat belt is a $114 fine. If juveniles are unbelted in the vehicle, the ticket increases to $164 and places 3 points on the driver's license.
