COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. -- When serving an arrest warrant, Columbia County Sheriff's Officers discovered a meth lab, according to a CCSO news release.
At about 1 p.m. on Monday, CCSO served a warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Freedom Court to Jonathan Scott Keen, 27, for failure to appear.
The report said the police smelled a strong, distinctive odor when they arrived at the location. Police then discovered materials and chemicals consistent with those for making methamphetamine.
Additional items and chemicals were found around the outside of the home and inside a shed located on the property, according to the report.
Deputies with the Multi Jurisdictional Task Force arrived to contain the dangerous chemicals and collect evidence after a search warrant was obtained, the report detailed.
The suspect was transported to the Columbia County Detention Facility without incident.
Keen was charged with manufacture of methamphetamine, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of listed chemicals, possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested by warrant for failure to appear.
