COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- The Columbia County Sheriff's Office is advising the public not to disturb a Florida Black Bear that has been spotted in the county.
The bear was last seen near the intersection of State Road 47 and SW Ridge Street, according to a Facebook posting from the CCSO.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission officers are aware of the bear and urge residents to secure their trash can lids.
"The bear may forage for food by going through trash bins so please make sure your cans have the lids in place," the post said. "To date, this bear has not posed any danger and we do not want you to panic if you see it."
