JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A St. Augustine pastor is dead after being involved in a fatal crash early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to FHP, Yvette Renee Montgomery, 56, was in her Toyota Avalon when she was struck by another vehicle.
Montgomery's car was stopped across the southbound lanes of I-95 at mile marker 335 in Duval County due to an earlier crash.
A Ford Flex driven by Jason Scales, 35, along with another passenger was traveling southbound on I-95. Scales steered into the center lane in order to travel around a piece of debris that was laying in the right lane.
As Scales' changed lanes into the center lane, he approached Montgomery's vehicle and struck her car on the right side.
Both vehicles traveled off of the roadway and into the grass median where the vehicles came to rest.
Montgomery was transported to UF Health where she was later pronounced dead.
The other driver and passenger of the other car suffered minor injuries.
There were no charges filed in the crash, according to the release by FHP.
