JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office held a press conference Thursday at 11:00 a.m. for the shooting that took place at the Jacksonville International Airport.
Chief Tom Hackney with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said it was their intent to stop the vehicle, a white Crown Victoria, before entering the airport.
Detective Edward Rogers shot the car three times, according to Hackney.
After the car was shot, a 17 year old in the vehicle called 911 with false information. The 17 year-old suspect is in custody and is cooperating with police, according to Hackney.
The alleged driver, Rodney Lorenzo Addison, 20, is facing up to four charges. One for hitting a policeman, attempting to hit another officer, as well as two aggravated assault and battery charges for hitting a deputy with a car.
At the press conference, Hackney said the vehicle the alleged driver was in was reported stolen on May 9 and was later found at the Monaco Arms Apartments.
The vehicle is at the JSO warehouse and is being investigated.
Hackney said witnesses spotted a suspect getting into a cab at airport, while witnesses at the apartments said three men were getting out of the vehicle.
JSO is looking for Addison and according to Hackney he may be stealing cars at the airport. If you have any information regarding to the capture of Addison you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
