BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. - An early morning blaze at the New River Correctional Institution charred three buildings near the main facility Tuesday.
Firefighters responded to the New River Correctional Institution around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, according Bradford County Emergency Management Public Information Officer Michael Heeder.
Heeder said the buildings effected are vacant and are located across the street from the main facility on the 7800 block of N.W. 228th Street.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital as a precaution.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
