JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Kim Jackson, 43, was convicted by a jury Wednesday evening in the 2004 death of Debra Pearce.
According to a press release, Jackson was convicted on a charge of murder in the First Degree.
Police said in October 2004, Jackson stabbed the 49-year-old in the chest and slashed Pearce's throat at her Bennington Drive home.
The crime went unsolved until 2007 when a DNA test on evidence matched Jackson.
Jackson death penalty phase begins April 26, 2013. The final sentencing decision will be made by Judge James Daniel.
The jury will recommend if Jackson should be sentenced to death or life in prison without parole.
