JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Claire Washburn's cello talent alone is enough to be considered outstanding.
It was a skill the 17-year-old Paxon student used to win her crown: Miss St. Augustine Outstanding Teen.
"I had to choose an instrument in 3rd grade. I chose the cello and have stuck with it for 9 years," she said.
Coupled with her talent, she also had to nail an interview during the process.
She focused on how she would use her musical ability to help in life.
"I'll go to hospitals and retirement homes and I'll help the elderly, the sick, the disabled with music, which I feel like really heals."
Next up for Washburn is the Miss Florida pageant in July.
