ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- The Clay County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help locating several robbery suspects.
A man shopping at Foot Action in the Orange Park Mall told deputies he set his phone down on a bench next to him and stepped away for a few seconds before it was nabbed, according to a police report from the Clay County Sheriff's Office.
The victim was trying on shoes and was called over by a store clerk, the report details. The victim was only a few feet from his phone, when it was allegedly taken from the store.
Both the victim and the store clerk told deputies there were four males, possibly in their early twenties, standing by the bench where the victim's phone was left. The clerk said he suspects one of the men may have taken his customers phone from the bench.
According to the report, the four men left the store before they could be questioned.
The victim claims he called his own phone and a male answered. The victim asked if he could have his phone back and his request was allegedly met with laughter before the line was disconnected. When the victim tried to call again, the call went straight to voicemail.
The cell phone has since been disconnected.
The suspects were captured on surveillance video at Foot Action picking up the victims phone and leaving the store.
Anyone who knows the identity or whereabouts of the unknown suspect, or has any information in regards to this case is asked to contact the Clay County Sheriff's Office at 904-264-6512. To remain anonymous and receive a possible reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
