JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A local man surprised his girlfriend with a holiday proposal in Santa's House on Friday night at the St. John's Town Center Shops.
"To be honest with you, I'm a little nervous, but you know it's hard to be nervous when I know I'm asking the right one," said Dusty Brown, the groom-to-be.
That was earlier Friday night and as the sun went down and the hours rolled by, it was time.
"I can tell you what she wants for Christmas ... a ring," Brown said to Santa.
"Well I can't help you out with that, but I can help YOU out," said Santa as he pulled out a ring-sized box.
And just like that ... Brown pops the question.
"Will you marry me?"
A holiday proposal that Brittany Quinley never expected.
"Amazing, like it's getting closer and it's more exciting and it's about time," said Quinley.
Quinley and her fiance' have been together for three years and the groom-to-be said he knew she was the one from the beginning.
"I remember first seeing her at a football game and I knew I had to be with her," said Brown.
Quinley was a senior in high school and Brown was in his first year of college and that's where the love story began. He is now a ministry assistant at Evangel Temple.
"First and foremost it's been pure. The common theme in our relationship has been God and we've centered our relationship around that and then it's been strong. We've fought together through difficulties, difficulties in my family, difficulties around my life. She's been strong with me, she's been awesome, she's been my anchor," said Brown.
The entire family was in on the surprise proposal, hiding outside Santa's shop and they are thrilled the couple is tying the knot.
"We are delighted to have him as a part of our family," says Linda Brown, mom of the bride-to-be.
